Oh the joys of moving!

This past week and weekend were filled with many ups and downs and crazy circles! Last Sunday we made an offer on a house. Well the “highly motivated” sellers were obviously not highly motivated, or even slightly motivated at all. We liked the house a lot, but did not think that it was priced right at all. Our realtor researched all the comps, etc and we came up with a price that more fit the house/neighborhood. We’ll apparently we offended the sellers and they countered barely at all. And, it took them 48 hours to counter. We waited all that time for that???? Well since we were in a big hurry we countered back in about 5 minutes, literally, and they came back with basically the same offer…needless to say, we figured at that point it wasn’t going to work out. So we decided to go ahead and keep looking and see if we could find anything else.

On Thursday a new house hit the market and we went and looked and I fell in love. Friday night we made an offer. The realtor told ours that they had people scheduled to see it that weekend and although they did counter (and better than the 1st houses attempt) it wasn’t that great. I honestly don’t blame them because they want to see what other offers they might get and weigh all their options. In the mean time, we heard from realtor of house #1 that the owners decided to get an appraisal done on their house. I assume they are trying to prove to us that their house is worth more than we think, and it might be, but just because someone says it is worth a certain dollar amount doesn’t mean it is worth that much to me personally. So, today we should hopefully be hearing from the appraisal and from realtor of house #2 to see if people who saw the house are interested at all. If they are not, we are going to make our counter offer and see what happens. We are totally prepared for this not to work (not being negative, just realistic) because the asking price is over our budget so we can actually only pay for the house at a certain price. If they don’t want to sell at our highest price that we can purchase, then it wont work. But that’s ok! We’ll find something else!

In the meantime, we still have to be out of our house by next Sunday. So this weekend was filled with packing boxes, taking down pictures, drapes, etc. Let me just tell you how exciting that is. It might be more exciting if I was taking down things just to be imagining where they would be going in my next house…but right now, not so much. Oh well, it will all work out!!!
