I know everyone thinks they have the worlds best grandfather. But I really did! He was SO wise, caring, loving and just overall an amazing man. He was a husband for 63 years and he and my grandmother had the most amazing marriage. They called each other “Scoop” and when he would call her name, there my grandmother was. Two days before his 93rd birthday he was taken from us here on earth. As sad as we were and still are, we know he was in a lot of pain and no one wants to see anyone suffer. He has been reunited with his two parents, and his two sisters, Eva Pelzer, who died at 6 and Frances Elizabeth, who died at 18 months. He grieved for them his whole life and we know that that meeting in Heaven was so sweet! I am so sad that Mac didn’t get to know him because he would have taught him so much, like he taught me. Cha-Cha was so funny whenever he would see Mac. Even in his last weeks. He would just stick his finger out and Mac would grab it and they would “shake” for minutes at the time. I saw my grandfather light up when my grandmother would say “Mac and Laura and here to see you” I know he was glad I was there, but you could tell he was really excited Mac was. Mom said one morning the first thing he said to her was “How’s Mac?” I think that there is something to be said about a relationship between a 92 year old and a 6 month old. It was amazing to just observe and think that one day, if I am lucky, Mac will grow to be just as amazing as my grandfather.
