Hello There!

Well, these past few weeks have just flown by! I now have a 10 month old who will randomly stand up by himself...(scary) and a 3 year going on 16 year old boy that is so opinionated and passionate about things! I have had my head buried for the past few months (with a few fun things here and there) in a CPA review book working on getting that dreaded test behind me! Well....many of you probably do not realize a few things about the exam.

1) There are 4 parts
2) The pass rate for each part is 50% and less.
3) This is NOT a "hey i'll study a week or two for this test and pass it" type of test. I could get away with that in HS and even college, but not this bad boy
4) Because I waited so long to take it there is a lot of "new" stuff that is being tested that I didn't learn one thing about in school.
5) The test and the review materials are VERY expensive.

SO.....I took the first one. (The biggest and baddest) on Aug 26th, hoping to get it behind me a move on, and I just got my score Monday. A 74. Its not really 74%, its just a score they give you out of 99, because things are weighted, etc. Well....to pass you need a 75. Yes, you read that right, a 75...ONE point off! I had a lot of emotions about that. For one, when I took the test I ran out of time to complete 3 of the 7 "problems" at the end. This test is in 4 sections. 3 sets of 30 Multiple Choice questions and then a set of 7 problems (or simulations as they call them) When you finish each section you cannot go back and you are timed. Well I have NEVER had a time management issue in taking a test in my life. I usually finish way early if anything. Well, I saw the clock with 20 mins left and 3 things left to do that were very involved, and I just hit he panic button. Long story short, I answered every question, but was just tying numbers in to not leave anything blanks. ALL OF THAT BEING SAID....to think I was going to BOMB the test, and to get so close was pretty tough. I think I would have been more content with a 60 or something because I knew I would fail, but now I am left with all of these "well if i hadn't panicked and had just tried to answer one correct and leave two blank maybe that would have pushed me up a point.." But, at this point I cannot do anything about it and I will just move on! I am taking another one Mid October and then hoping to retake this one late Nov or early Jan (cannot test in December) So...my life for the next few months will still be surrounded by books and then BUSY season starts. Mad props to Wade for really stepping up while I am buried in my books!

And since no blog post is complete without a picture...here is one of my sweet little Wiley!
