The Lord knows that I cannot function without sleep. I don't have to have a lot of sleep, but at least a 5-6 hour stretch to feel somewhat rested the next day. Now, having a baby will cramp your sleeping style, but THANKFULLY Mac's eating every 3 hours did not last long at all. In fact, at 6 weeks he was sleeping 7 hours...and made it to 8 hours at 7 weeks. He did have one night last week where I had to get up at 3am, but I was able to sleep in until about 9:30 so I was ok (and it was a Saturday, phew) A lot of nights he will wake himself up and make noises around 2:30-3, but I just lay in bed and wait for a few minutes to see if this is an "I am hungry and I am not going back to sleep until you feed me" cry, or not..and thankfully it has not...I could not ask for a better baby! The daycare workers have told me that they wish all the babies were as good as Mac...so I'll count my blessings.
Speaking of daycare, I have been sending Mac to Covenant Kids Child Development Center here in town. I have LOVED it so far. The teachers have been wonderful and so sweet. One lady does call him Max...but besides that...ha. She is apparently a clean freak, so she can call him Max all day long as long as she keeps that room clean. The daycare is very well run and they really love the children. (I have be around this place since it opened because my mom was a big part in helping plan and start the place, so my opinion is not solely based on one week of sending Mac, fyi) It is pretty small so they don't always have a lot of openings, but if you are having a baby, or need a place to send your child, you should really look into it. Take a tour and I don't think you will be disappointed. Something that's special to me about the daycare is that they have a hall called "Steff's Studio" made up of artwork by Stephanie Harmon, my best friend from High school that was killed in May of 2005 by a drunk driver. Her mom, Laura, gave the daycare some of her artwork framed and its there so everyday I go pick up Mac I see it and it makes me smile!
